Meh, don't like such fake-feeling drama, hope it gets resolved soon.
Nanako is unable to believe that others can lie, or even stretch her moral standards to include a pregnancy outside of marriage. Her inability to perceive the intentions of others, reject lies without a logical or factual basis, or even maintain emotional stability in the face of childish jeering suggests a simple mind. Tomoko, too, offers only token resistance to Shinobu's blatant manipulation. They're so dumb I can barely sympathize.
I didn't count, but there had to be at least five occasions in this episode where an emotionally distraught girl dramatically pushed past her company and ran away.
She doesn't seem to actually want to be in this Sorority that much so why doesn't she just leave? Seems like the only purpose of being a member is to gain popularity and respect but she's obviously acquired neither but judging from the plot synopsis this goes on for majority, if not the entire series *sigh*
Prince Kaoru is actually starting to appeal to me now. Just because she's not putting up with or going along with Aya's bull crap. I don't think I could take an entire class chanting at me.
Also... if this was a different type of anime.. I'd assume Mariko was going to murder Tomoko.
Kaoru's pretty cool, definitely the most notable character so far because she is not overly dramatic at all and is rather relaxed all in all. The melodrama is a bit too much, though, I agree. I know that these things seem like a big in school and all, but this is just getting close to being too much. That said, I can kind of sympathize with Nanako as a bully victim, but the running out of room while crying thing just isn't going to work. I hope her friendship with Tomoko won't be lost this easily....
"Yes, I have been deprived of emotion. But not completely. Whoever did it, botched the job."
Really Tomoko? You're going to believe Mariko - the same girl who pushed you and literally went between you and Nanako? I understand female "bestfriend-new friend" dynamics and I swear I wasn't this stupid back in high school.
"May those who accept their fate be granted happiness."
Why do Tomoko and Marikoi have to fight over her attention? It's not that big of a deal.
The teachers English is pretty good, but he's so incompetent. Why is a student the one to maintain order? Be a teacher and control your class!
I kinda liked Tomoko before this episode but man she's unbelievably
gullible. I guess they weren't really good friends if she was so easily tricked
into thinking Nanako didn't like her anymore. And she was so quick to be done
with her. It's sad, nanako has literally done nothing for most of this series.
Misunderstanding after misunderstanding. She's so sweet and innocent.
I know to be interesting there needs to be sequences of action and conflict but I would like to see an entire episode where Nanako is happy and smiling. I think for a lot of this she's gonna be distressed and in tears. That's gonna get hard to view sooner or later for me. I hope there's a balance at some point.
This is truly a beautiful anime with really fascinating characters, hardcore drama that's not beat-you-down depressing, and lots of back and forth dialogue that pushes the anime along to prevent it from drowning within itself. It's just that it's so hard to watch.
Why it has to be Mariko or Tomoko? Nanako has two hands!
Now being serious, I love how the drama intensifies every time the redhead opens her mouth. Didn't she learned to shut the fuck up when Mariko bitchslapped her?
marquis de sade, LOL! oh, she messed up big time. imagine this is the reason why she gets chosen to be s sorority member, because she's a fan of marquis de sade's highly controversial works. *cough*
"and near the eastern end, there is a fort." i swear to god i thought she said that there was a fart. nearly cracked up but i composed myself again. this english is praiseworthy. i thought the overdramatic parts failed to incite laughter from me, until the musicbox soundtrack played as they stilled the scene with kaoru manhandling the bully brigade. duuuude, funny.
i have a feeling henmi is her actual brother from the other marriage... i'm saying it now so that when the truth comes out and i'm right, i have bragging rights. like yeah nobody can tell me i didn't know it, cos i knew it man, i freakin' knew it. i was worried her mom would hide the package. welllll... mariko is as bad as that other girl if she made a big lie to tomoko. the title of this episode should be changed to: "burning bridges for your friend's friend unwarranted, you're welcome." on a side note, i think nanako would benefit from growing a pair. i know she's heavily sensitive. she runs away from everything that life throws her and i guess it's the most apparent reaction when faced with bullying, nonetheless she never fights back. how many times will she let mariko battle her battles? my waifu mariko is throwing flour and pushing your perpetrators for you, at least deal a heavy slander back to them. a simple "you're a ugly wh*re, stfu rat" would suffice. don't rely too much on comforting from others... that's all i ask.
Wow, what a bitch. And here I thought Mariko was becoming likable after she stood up for Nanako.
And LOL @ Kaoru grabbing those two bitches by the collar. I thought she was going to body slam them onto a desk or something.
So, her "Onii-sama" might actually turn out to be her real (well, step) Onii-sama.
Quite the dumb students, they probably could have heard her speak if they weren't screaming their retarded "I can't hear you" like some 4 year old kids. Sad that the friendship with Tomoko is broken (hopefully soon restored) because of the snobby sorority and obsessed Mariko, even though I'm glad to see her and also Kaoru lash out on the annoying twats especially that daughter of a rat dog.
I find Mariko's obsession over Nanako very bizarre, it's just unnatural. The first three episodes were just meh, just a good set-up, but now it's finally getting actually interesting!
in my opinion theres too much cliche and so many stupid characters its kinda annoying to watch those but still theres something that somehow keeps me here
hope it gets better
Nanako saying Sade is one of her favorite writers so they don't assume she's childish was the funniest scene but also quite realistic, Nanako try-hard edgy teenager era is upon us.
They pulled the I can't hear you on Nanako and during the English class to make it worse!
*Kaoru starts throwing girls around*
Mariko: she so cool ~♡
Lol
And she finally did something to break Nanako and Tomoko friendship.
Please let them make up soon. ;o;; I really like Tomoko and Nanako as friends. Heck, I like Tomoko in general because while she's not without her faults and insecurities, she's still pretty down to earth. Here's to hoping they make up. ;_;
And thank you, Kaoru. Thank you so much.
I was thinking Mariko is so nice the first part of the episode... and the she just had to do something nasty. still unclear why she suddenly decided to become a random girl's bestie. at least she stands up for Nanako... and her confrontations with Misaki are always extra lol
Kaoru is soo cool. my fav character so far. i was a bit sad when she tried to comfort Nanako but she just ran away. there were some wise words about understanding and companionship here. i wonder if she defends Nanako because she's a bullying victim, or maybe she developed a more romantic inclination? i could see that
another child, huh. maybe this 'oniisama' really is her brother? that would explain 1) this man's strange reaction to Nanako's father name - he obviously knew him, but denied it; his words when he decided to send the gift with his own name and said smth like 'they will find out sooner or later' 2) mother's reaction to the name on the gift package 3) the existance of the older child from professor's first marriage. but if so, why are Nanako's parents keeping her in the dark? would it be that bad if she knew her step brother?
...and my heart is breaking for Tomoko. Both her and Nanako are so innocent and sweet. It was evident that Mariko would have an issue with their friendship from the very start, so I was expecting some scheming on her part sooner or later. That said, I'm sure those two will realize what happened here, and make up!
Concerning Mariko, I was actually so happy with her — for how she defended Nanako from the others at every turn, even going so far as to beg Miya-sama on her knees to give Nanako a chance. That was some real stuff right there, and made her a likable character. I hope she doesn't go full-on Machiavelli from here on out.
If I were Nanako, I would also have a rather difficult time re: this dilemma, i.e. what (or whom) to choose? I would obviously want to keep the same relationship with Tomoko, but I would also feel a strong sense of obligation, for lack of a better word, towards Mariko given just how much she wanted me to be her friend, and for all her seemingly genuine efforts there. If only she wasn't so possessive... As for the Sorority — is it really worth it? I wouldn't want to offend or disappoint Miya-sama (not because she is* Miya-sama, but because she deemed me worthy and honored me, in that sense) by backing out of it at this stage, and I definitely wouldn't want to give in to the bullies, especially that Misaki-clown after everything she did.
Still, it doesn't seem like the Sorority has much to offer to Nanako in terms of, ultimately, being happy as a student — quite the opposite. It seems her happiness lies with Tomoko, and in one of the idols — I'm suspecting Saint Juste-sama at this point.
